Christmas in October block Swap

OHhappychicks. I want to share my sewing room with you. My cutting table is a God send. We found 2 old cabinets (was told that came from the chemistry lab) at a flea market. My dh cut the tops off added costers and we used floor laminate for the cutting surface. I recently added and fold down ironing surface to one end.
My machines sit on a secretary desk and because of the size or desk and CT they are close and I can just turn from sewing to ironing. It is amazing. Thank you DH. Love it.

I like that set up! I like the ironing board fold down. I want to add a display board on the wall to attach quilt blocks, also. Another option to add to my plan! Thank you so much kelsek!

Thanks again! HHmmmm! Maybe you did invent it, and someone stole the idea!?

Some one at the class was making the 4 patch. We all didn't use the same pattern. Some made fans. There was another pattern that some were making, I think the 8 patch. Another lady and I were the only 2 that made the hexagon. It all was so interesting! I like this technique best of all the quilt blocks I have made! Not that I have made many, but a few!

Oh I don't think anyone stole the idea from me, I do think at least the two of us came up w/ the idea around the same time. It was before computers and internet was so popular. I never made public pictures or anything like that, had never heard of a "forum". It was back in the dark ages of quilting when you made up your own ideas or used ideas from library books.

Cool. We are doing a remodel and Gary is taking a wall in the living room and building the whole thing into built in cabinets w/ doors, so I can sew and close the doors (mess) but not be in a closed bedroom. We are doing it ourselves as we have time and money. He is to the rewiring part now, so we are waiting until fall so he doesn't have to go in the attic (crawl space type attic) in the heat of summer.

My DMIL had quilting magazines that she referred too, and whenever I did crafts and painting, I did the same! How did we ever get along with out internet??!!!

show us some pics when you get done! This is so exciting! I can't wait to get started on my sewing room. But like you, we will probably wait until fall. DH has been working on a HUD job for the last 9 months. Should be done in a week or two. Working long days, so a lot needs to be done around here before we do this project. We are blessed with great hubbies!! He is always doing the projects I have for him.

Phew, I've just taken a virtual trip through Mary Jo's Cloth Store, North Carolina, courtesy of The Quilt Show and I'm exhausted. Have any of you been there? There is so much stuff I'd never be able to choose anything!

I've not been there, but we go to Myrtle Beach each October, so if it is on the way or close from our route, I might stop in! Where did you see it on the quilt show? I'm on there now, but I don't know where to look for it.
