Why do they have such a BEAK it can be vicious/it is..But usually there is a reason for /something in there native food source.Any Ideas or answers please...cva34

I often wonder because I see the same thing in domesticated ring-neck pheasants, but I can only make 2 educated guesses: (1) the reason why the beaks are so long is because they have been debeaked before (usually from when they were chicks) which would cause mistakes in the regrowth hence the longer beak length, and (2) they don't have anything to peck on to to keep the beak length normal similar to how you need to give rats/mice something to chew otherwise their teeth will become long. Even though I have 2 guesses, I'm leaning towards #1. If you were to look at wild specimens, you should note that their beaks are normal. Experts who know the real answer can chime in.
