Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to join this community entirely dedicated to our chicken friends!
My name is Alice, and I grew up in a small town near the mountains in Italy.
My parents have always had a small farm where I grew up and where we always had animals, including chickens.
Three years ago I moved to California with my husband and finally a year ago we found the house of our dreams, where we can have some animal friends.
We have had for a few weeks we have finally got 7 chicks (3 Welsummer, 3 Austra white, 1 Ligth Brama and a beautiful English rooster.
In the meantime we are arranging their future home, they will have a large chicken coop to sleep at night, while for the day we have designed a fence, which allows them to roam free and safe during the day.
Between September and October we should see the first eggs!
For me, having fresh eggs and healthy vegetables from our small garden are inevitable gestures, for a better quality of life and to help our planet a bit.
I also love to cook and so ingredients are very important to me.
I am also passionate about medical herbs, both grown by me and wild, with which I make oleites, syrups and herbal teas.
I dream of being able to have a couple of dairy goats in the future, to also produce my cheese.
My friend Jim sent me to join the community, and he's also helping me fix up the chicken coop, so double thanks!
