Cicadas: zip code + Emerging? Chicken Behavior? Any seen?

Can chickens overeat? Like horses?

Except for the Cornish X meat birds, chickens are generally capable of self-regulating.

The overeating issues I've read about over the years usually involved people feeding rationed amounts so that the chickens would gorge when food appeared because they knew it wouldn't be there later. Free-fed chickens rarely overeat to become fat, unless offered too many empty-calorie treat foods. :)

You know, I’ll bet they are all huddled around a conference room table deciding when to break out... just to make us crazy.

I did see a YouTube clip showing chickens eating them whole. (Barf).
We had so.e several years ago here. I can't remember when they showed up. It was around this ti.e thought because we fished with them. And we were fishing more in the spring than in the hot summer.

Sung to the tune of: o come o come Emanuel.

o come o come you gen x ci-ca-daaaaaas
Our chickens look for you throughout the day
And wonder when you’ll show up at last
They need your bodies to stuff down their beaks
Rejoice! Rejoice! They’re on their way so please be patient, all my lovely little chooks.

I'm delighted the chickens will be gorging themselves on these bugs, but I have to admit they are pretty gross looking. Google search revealed this—https://www.cicadamania.com/cicadas/cicada-merch/

Yup, just what I want to cuddle up with at night. Really makes me queasy.View attachment 2642430
We don’t get those kinds, we get the dog-day cicadas. They don’t have amber wings, and they look camouflaged. I’ll post if I see (hear!!) them This year. They come out every 3 years, but I forgot the last time we saw them...

7080* (prefer not to give exact zip, but it's Louisiana!). I don't see anything emerging yet, but LORD do I HEAR them!! The sun goes down, everything is peaceful until
scared covering ears GIF
