City demanded on my property !!

We do ? Oh my gosh somehow i think if someone tried all my local niehgbors would come out with guns loaded.
Plus i doubt they want my 25 year old unsound horse . But then again he is pretty darn cute.
They were not in a city vehicle . I had like a sticker on it that said volunteer code enforcement. I did not see car until i went out to go out and saw them going to their truck.

You two need to band together and make a big stink - they have really violated your rights with their intimidation, no contact info, lack of id, taking pictures, etc. Get the word out to others about what is going on. Even though they act like they own the place, local govt officials know their jobs are at stake when people complain about their performance. You have every right to know who those people are and what are they doing with those picts, etc. You even have a right to know who your accuser is. Keep us posted.

I am thinking it is fishy too.
Calling the city and perhaps the police may be a good idea. I think you may want additional patrols in your area due to "suspicious persons".

Even though the horse market is down, there are still auctions and a "stolen" horse no matter the age, will be "free" money to a thief , I would call the city, report it to the Police , file a police report and talk to all the neighbors......... Just sayin, better safe than sorry

Sounds like horse thieves scoping the area out, looking for a potential target.

I would LOCK my animals up and call the police if I were you. You may be able to prevent them from taking anyone's property before they strike.

Do you still have the notices that were on your door? Do they have any sort of letterhead or city emblem on them that would lead you to believe they are legitimate? Could you ask the police to verify the letters for you? Or your city council?

Unless they have a search warrant and show up with a cop, you legally don't have to let them on your property. Next time they show up, tell them to come back with a sheriff and a warrant and slam the door in their faces.

They are conducting an illegal search. If they take pictures, that is a violation of your privacy. Take pictures of them taking pictures of your stuff. Make sure you get their faces. If they take anything, it's an illegal search and seizure.

Call your local law school/legal college and see if you can hire a legal intern if you're in a position where you cannot afford a real lawyer.

ETA: The reason you feel violated is because you have been.

If the OP gave them permission to come onto the property, it wasn't an illegal search. If she had told them they weren't welcome and they still came through, then it would be illegal. I do think that they should have identified themselves better. I would call the city to make certain that they were truly city employees and then file a complaint about their lack of identification if you feel it is appropriate.

I was given nothing today. But they seemed to go all over my side of the street.
One nieghbor let them in her yard just because they are afraid they are going to have same problem and trying ti nip it in the behind. I need to ask her if they took photos. They seemed very interested in the underground creek in our yard. It causes water to float to the top and we still are not dry yet so we can start putting drains and repair it. Something we were not told when we bought the house. We bought as a bank owned property and bought as is. They took a lot of picture of it. I told them what it was. Its fresh running water not sitting water. So sure they will cite us for that , saying its a broken water pipe or something.

Call the city tomorrow and make sure they really were with the city and ask why they had no real proof with them. Perhaps you have a nasty neighbor complaining and they have to go around to erveryone in the area, perhaps it's a scam and they are using it to case people's property for future theft... just be sure!
If it is the city and they have to keep coming out to check clean stalls, they will get sick of it!

Wish I could remember where this was.

Maybe some other horse people will post it, but although I don't have horses it was big news.

They came into the property after a complaint, took pictures and also took pictures of ajoining properties. It was a week or a month later and they took numerous horses.

OMG!!!! Where was that? Was it here in California???? I think it was, but I'm not positive.

They stole trailers as well. I think some of what they took were some expensive Thoughbreds. Don't know what other breeds.

Then there was another couple. There was a complaint. They let them check things out and had nothing to hide. Thought they were in the clear and while they were at church I think it was, they were wiped out. Thing is they knew who did it, because they really were city workers. They were also thieves. Stupid ones BTW.

You need to check these people out.

My daughter's whole house was cleared out last month on the 29th. They had 1/2 hour when the house was empty of people and took EVERYTHING. Amazing how fast you can get some much stuff in such little time, when you're greedy.
