City demanded on my property !!

They showed me no Id other then they were the city. I have a lot on my plate right now and didn't think correctly. I just felt intimidated and they just did what they wanted. I let them know I wad extremely unhappy and felt violated. They just said sorry i felt that way.

So sorry to hear this girl. They were not from the health department were they? I had a friend in Nj i worked for who had a 4 ever shelter and the health department was on her all the time for BS that was not true. I sure would call the City tomorrow and get to the bottom of this.

Not your fault. They surprised you and got you off guard. Code enforcement, police, city they all will try and get you off guard. So will a thieves and other not so nice sorts.
I would still call the police and have them do extra patrols. Explain to them that there was no proper id shown and that the vehicle had a "volunteer code enforcement" sticker or magnet on it. Let them know no paperwork was shown and that you are concerned and frightened that someone may be casing your house for a robbery or to do harm to your pets.
They should be willing to come out to your area a few times a night to patrol.
One thing we did after having our vehicles vandalized was to put up flood lights on the house that are on low after dark but WHAM if someone triggers the motion sensor 500 watts of blinding light per fixture.
The neighbor across the street said "Wow those really light it up. I can see better in my driveway and garage with yours on than I can with my own on". LOL they come on when she opens HER garage door.
I got mine at Home Depot for less than 50 each.

I'd also be real worried about that running water issue... because they may say that your animal feces is getting in that water and its a health safety issue.....(or whatever other bologna thay want to come up with..

Where does that water run off to?? A river? or just go back underground?

I think my husband knows where the water runs off too. It still coming from under ground up. We have no animals up top where it is , we are waiting for it to dry so we can start brining in trucks of dirt and rock and put in drains. But yea we are figuring thats what they will start harassing us with next.

Sierra, please call the city in the morning and make sure these people were actually who they said they were. That is really frightening for me to hear about this. Anyone who strongarms their way onto your property does not have your best intentions in mind.

Wow, I'm so, so sorry. Even though I'm trying really hard to fix it, I still panic in such situations/get intimidated and freeze, and would have let them on too, so I completely understand why you did personally.

Well i have nothing to hide. My stalls were clean so I hope they felt stupid.

Not to scare you, but that depends entirely who they are with. Yes, they could be some sort of scammers/horse thieves. I think even more likely would be other groups though, and they do not always care if the animals are well taken care of, and can and do misconstrue the info as saying otherwise. Definitely call and see if these people were authorized by the city. Find out what your rights are so this does not happen again. Maybe someone on a horse specific forum or on here will be able to tell you in detail what those rights are in cases specifically dealing with complaints of this nature. Best of luck, and keep your place locked up tight. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this.
