feeder rats cost $8.00 for a jumbo and my sons snake can eat 4 jumbo rats in a month so she gets all my runts

Some raptor rehabilitation facilities probably feed chicks to the hawks, ospreys, and eagles. People who keep and train falcons might use them, too. I'd say that being eaten by a hawk or a snake is certainly no worse than being ground up in a hatchery facility.
