Classic Rock!

I'm between West Branch and Standish in northern Arenac county, about hour and a half SW of you. We're close enough to Saginaw that we can pick up their stations, usually listen to 104.5 WHEELZ but they always play the same 20 songs over and over again, although Alice Cooper has a syndicated radio show 7 pm - 11pm on that station and he would play some more obscure stuff and a better variety. 102.1 out of Bad Axe in the Thumb plays some good stuff late night. When I worked at McD's, I worked some weird hours and would often listen to that station driving home, would hear some stuff that would never be played during the day like "Black Sabbath" (the song by the eponymous band), "Shag Carpet" and "Rock Candy" by Montrose, and other not-PG rated stuff.

When I'm up in West Branch and when I travel north I usually catch 105.1 although I'm not where it's out of. 98.5 WUPS out of Houghton Lake plays a good variety. DH used to be a DJ for 103.1 the country station out of Gladwin and got in trouble for playing The Eagles' "Take it Easy" and "I'm Already Gone." His reply was "Take it Easy has banjos and it's 2/4 time. It qualifies as country."

A lot of my old music is still on cassette tape. Thank goodness DH's truck still has a cassette player! We used to fight over the Van Halen tapes until I sold my 1996 pickup and got an Escape ... with a 6 disc changer.

I think they should still make vehicles with cassette players!

105.1 is the Bear, I think it's in Cheboygan. I go down to Alger once or twice a year, some of Dh's brothers bought their grandparents' farm in Alger and hunt there. I go to pick blueberries with my MIL.

Godd for you Dh on playing the Eagles on a country station! Everyone is crossing over everywhere these days so the owners ought to lighten up!

I know where that it is, about straight west of us.

I'm proud of my daughter, she likes Bob Seger!

I wonder how "in" she'll be in later years since DH and I are so old-fashioned in our music.

Ok, don't hit me on the head for this but......the monkees!

You definetely don't have to be old to like classic rock! That is [literally, besides some 80's rock and grunge] all I listen to and I'm in my teens. I'm very surprised no one mention the Stones!

The superbowl? That was a horrible and shameful performance. Just goes to show you that some folks just don't know when to give up and retire.

I didn't get to see it [we didn't get local stations at that time], but thats understandable! But I'd rather see a bad performance of the Rolling Stones, than a ''good'' performance of Lil Wayne.
Sympathy for the Devil is definetly in my top ten of favorite songs

I love all the bands listed here and more. I realized my favorite bands were "classic rock" when I heard Stairway to Heaven being played as MUZAK in an elevator.

NOTHING HAS BEEN THE SAME SINCE
