'Oof!' Ashenwing wasn't expecting anyone else to be around and hadn't been paying attention. He playfully batted at her, sticking out his tongue. "I may be luxuriously fluffy but you know my name," he laughed while standing and shaking out his fur. "But you know I'm always down for a hunt," he added, batting at a bug that had decided to crawl in that unfortunate direction.

“Let’s go hunt by the Riverclan border! Race you there!” Shadeheart took off, racing around trees, gasping for breath as she ran hard. Once they arrived, Shadeheart had won by a millisecond, but they were too out of breath from the run to say anything. Just as Shadeheart was about to say something, Ashenwing clamped his tail over her mouth, and jerked his head at a vole, foraging near the stream. Shadeheart signaled she was going around, to close it off. Shadeheart crept up on it, intending to chase it towards, Ashenwing. She pounced, and the vole….

Ashenwing lost his playful demeanor in the seconds the vole was spotted. He watched almost in slow motion as Shadeheart barely missed the small rodent and pounced quickly, securing the prey in his dainty teeth but catching Shadeheart with a paw in the process since he was so close, luckily without claw. His playfulness returned as he set the vole down. "Here, you have it, you pounced first," he said.

Shadeheart grinned, taking it and burying it, to bring back to camp later.
“Let’s grab a few more pieces of prey before we head back.” She meowed. They both tasted the air, ready to find another piece of prey when a fox came running towards them!
“Shadeheart look out!” Yowled Ashenwing, thrusting her out of the foxes way before leaping at it. Shadeheart ran around and grabbed its tail, making it shriek in pain. The fox whipped around throwing Shadeheart off before turning to bat Ashenwing in the face. The vixen leaped towards Ashenwing, a pounce that would kill him, but Shadeheart shoved the fox off balance, giving Ashenwing a chance to dart in and claw at it.

Ashenwing, though young, wasn't made deputy without reason. Ears pinned, he hissed and growled as he pounced at the foxes throat, he was around the same size as the she fox because of his breed, so he had no issues knocking her the rest of the way down. He did his best to pin her, not wanting to kill her, after all, she was just looking for food too, and he wasn't sure how Shadeheart would feel about it, plus he didn't like killing unless for battle or for food. The vixen yelped and snapped her way up, Ashenwing arched his back and kissed, baring his fangs. The fox ran, the smell of her blood on the air.
Ashenwing shook his fur out and licked his lips, "I haven't seen a fox in ages," he said nodding in the foxes direction.

“Me either! It must be this chilly weather,” rumbled Shadeheart. “I can’t believe it just ran off like that though. Let’s grab the prey and bring it back to camp. Shiningstar will want to know about this.”
They padded back to camp, quite slowly, because though they both were lucky to not have done any serious damage, they were both scratched up pretty bad.
They entered the camp, and clan mates surrounded them…


I just realized that Shadowclan doesn’t have a medicine cat either. 😬😬😬
