Fernpaw dropped his minnow on the pile and chose a sizable mouse. The river hadn't been very generous today, he thought as he stared at the meager selection of fish and 'forest prey'.
He carried the mouse over to the apprentice's den and sat by the entrance in a patch of sun. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of a pretty she-cat walking past him... Shimmerpaw, he remembered from her apprentice ceremony.
"Hey, Shimmerpaw!" he called suddenly, inwardly berating himself. "Want to share a mouse with me?"

Sorry! Didn't see this until now!

"Uh, sure!" Said Shimmerpaw pushing making a mean look at Stonepaw as he passed by. "So, how do you like being an apprentice now?" Questioned Fernpaw trying to start conversation. "Yeah, I like it. Especially hanging out with the other apprentices! Especially Bushpaw." She said with a dreamy look in her face. "Yeah. Okay." He said with a hurt expression.



After they were done, Shimmerpaw left to go find Bushpaw. Fernpaw watched as she padded off. I wonder if she likes me? Definitely not. And he padded off to go sunbathe on a rock.

Stonekit noticed Fernpaw and grinned, padding over to pass him,
"PLEASE do, keep her away from Bushpaw. I have a bad feeling about him.." he muttered quietly, passing by. Then he crept to where Peonypaw was sitting. "Mind if i join you? I have a trout we could share!" he purred, knowing how much she loved trout.
"Sure!" Peonypaw purred back, and he crouched next to her, licking her ear....

Peonypaw was happily eating the trout, she smiled, trout was her favorite. “So, i bet your favorite part of being an apprentice would be cleaning the elders bedding, right?” She chuckled

“Definitely not! Their so cranky..” he rolled his eyes as they laughed.

“Stonepaw! Hi!” Dawnpaw ran up to him, ruining the mood.

“Not now, Dawnpaw..” Stonepaw whispered, but she didn’t get it, and kept trying to talk to him about something

“Well, thank you for the trout. It was really good, i’ll let you get back to it..” She briskly cleaned her paws and walked off

“Look what you did! Stonepaw snorted and padded off.. Dawnpaws ears drooped

Peonypaw was happy eating the trout, she smiled, trout was her favorite. But her mind was clouded with thoughts, too. When would she get her powers? She was starting to feel left out, her siblings and Dawnpaw were so popular in the clan, and she was happy for them of course, but she couldn’t help wondering when she would get hers..

now im confused. DAwnpaw doesnt have powers yet? and peonypaw sees the future? And they are supposed to be romanticly in love? Does hse feel the same? Sorry im just confused

nononono Peonypaw is the older apprentice who sees future. Dawnpaw doesnt have powers and is a sibling. Peonypaw and Stonekit are supposed to be in love.

At first, Fernpaw had been dubious about Bushpaw being bad, but now he couold feel jeolousy and resentment warring in his gut. He really liked Shimmerpaw, and she very obviously didn't return his affections. The sun was colder than he would've liked, but he didn't move.
He saw Shimmerpaw over with Bushpaw, and he felt anger bubbling under his pelt.
But he tamped it down and decided something else.
He would always be there for Shimmerpaw, and when Bushpaw decided to cast her away, he would be there for her. He would love her, but he would only be a friend.
