Hi all I hatched these 3 chicks and this is my first time having chickens, so far it has been text book as I have read alot of good info here 2 RIR and 1 BR so today I found this feeder at my local feed store and no more poop and shavings in there feed.
I started them on nipples at 3 days old with ACV they love it, Now the feed was the problem and I found this feeder and life is good. If I could stop the dust it would be perfect LOL.

I'm having the same problem with my 3. I really need to try the nipple thing for the water. They always seem to get bedding or poop in that. It is so disgusting!! Anyways, good luck with your new chicks!!

Water plates represent an extensive peril for chicks as they effortlessly suffocate in water china. In any event they will spill the water and wet down their settling material conceivably making them get chilled. They will likewise walk and crap in the water dish, which can prompt bacterial contaminations.

It will require consistent modifying and clean-up. Water ought to be in any event updated twice a day --all the more every now and again, if fundamental, to keep the water clean and new. Clean the waterer every time you make the change, and refill the dish with tepid water. The expansion of vitamins and electrolytes to the chick's water will help them get off to an improved begin (once more, I might check what they have accessible at the food store that is fitting for chicks).

As the chicks develop their water utilization increments and you will build the span of the waterer. At first the chicks will require a modest water dish with marbles or minor stones put in it to forestall chicks from suffocating in the dish. You could likewise utilize a saucer having a reversed measure put over it. It is critical to pick something that can't be tipped over.

I have heard that the nipple waterer has the con of not enough chicks being able to access it at one time but the pro of staying clean. I use not a water dish but an actual chick waterer- the kind that has a bottle like container on top of a shallow bowl/plate thing. It's hard to explain but I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. The shavings are a huge trouble maker with my chick's food and water so I eventually just started putting mine on plates and dishes to keep out the shavings.

Six weeks, and mine haven't pooped in the waterer once yet! (They do poop in the food like they're aiming for it, though). I'm using sand as bedding, and they do kick a lot of sand in the waterer, but the nice thing about sand is that is just sinks to the bottom.
