Cleaning cage

I have baby quail chicks that need to be kept under their heat lamp. I have used paper towel as their base and I’m wondering how I’m going to clean the cage without removing them from the heat lamp. Am I able to move them into a different enclosure for a few minutes? Any better suggestions?

Get a box, and place quail into that one. Place heat lamp over that box. Clean your original, and return quail back.
You don't state how old your chicks are. If they are somewhat feathered out, you can skip placing the heat-lamp over temporary box with not issues.
Another option,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, take half of the soiled paper towels out, and replace with fresh. Herd chicks onto new towels, and clean up rest of brooder.
