what kind of or what to use to clean the baby chicks brooder? Don't want to use anything that might harm them. Chicks are a week old now and time to clean the brooder for the first time. Ii use hay for the bedding on plasticized dog food sack so cleaning the bottom will be easy,,,,mostly what to use on the roost bar and the 2x6 that their water and food sit on.

i don't use and type of chemicals around mine i have bricks to put the feeders on and i usually just scrap them off and may clean them them once every 2 weeks with dawn dishwashing soap and hot water and i let them completly dry before i put them back in and i use tobacco sticks for the roost and i don't clean them since they don't usually poo on them and i have vinyl down in the big girl brooder and i just use the water hose with a hig pressure nozzle on it. i've been using puppy pads in the little ones brooder but they have found so i've got to take them out and i have a little broom and dust pan i found at sams that i use when i change the litter and i use a food service glove to do my daily poop clean up
