Well, I'm getting 4 new bitties today! I've been 'cleaning' (rinsing with water and letting dry in the sun) their brooder, waterer, and feeder.
Back in August, my family made the mistake of not fully examining two adult hens that we bought off of Craigslist. They had both worms and lice. So we separated them from our preexisting flock and got them medicated and cared for. (They do not have worms or lice now and are living happily with the flock) While they were separated, though, we used our chick feeder and waterer for them.
I was wondering if it would be bad if I just hosed them off and then used them (feeder and waterer) with the bitties or if I need to do something else.
My only hesitation with cleaning with more than water would be that the chicks would get poisoned or something from the soap or vinegar. (I'd be afraid that I'd put either too little or too much of the cleaning product on the feeder and waterer)
Is there anything that could be potentially harmful in dish soap? Or another cleaner?
What other cleaners could I use?
