Clearly not a buff orpington...what is she?

I was just visiting the chicks over my lunch break and took a closer look at our mystery friend...she/he has black spots at the top back of her head, and a few random grey feathers throughout her body. So now I'm wondering after some more research...is Delaware also a possibility? Before today I never noticed the black spots/grey feathers....

I still don't know exactly what my Chanel is...I even emailed [email protected] to ask if they're coming up with a chicken dna breed test.

I'm guessing what she is or could be...Buff Delaware or Buff Brahma mix? Until they offer testing, all we can do is guess. My Chanel has some markings. Maybe yours will become more pronounced.

Love my chunky hen, she's such a good broody mama, she hatches out other eggs, as she actually has stopped laying ( she's a senior).

I do have some white Wyandottes, but not a brilliant white. I guess there are many breeds & mixes that could be white. They have the flat Wyandotte combs.

(2 white Wyandotte hens,
1 has 5 feathers with a bit of red on them.)

Chanel looks done with everyone's shenanigans. She's very pretty.

She is too cool, too.
No matter what's going on, who's crowing, clucking, running, jumping...Chanel is always cool, she watches the lunatics acting looney, then calmly goes back to her chickweed munching or dustbathing. She's a big chunk, gentle giant, no one messes with her.
There is another older EE hen that many others pick on, she & Chanel are BFFs. Often they snuggle in the nestbox together, no one will pick on Sienna when she is with Chanel. She is sweet with me, likes being fussed over, sitting on my lap for pets. ❤️ She is an old girl, I know I will miss her very much when she passes.

With the black / gray spots, maybe an Austra White? (Black Australorp and leghorn mix.)
They're not as lean or small as a leghorn, but not as big as an Australorp, and their combs get floppy.

Could be a California White or other such Leghorn cross.

My California White is a MACHINE for the production of 65g eggs -- almost perfectly consistent and rarely missed a day for a full year.
