Clicker Training Japanese Bantams

Here's two pics of one of the Japs from earlier today. You can see the comb is red and the wattles are beginning to show. The other chick's looks about the same. (Yes, I know they need a bigger house, they grow so fast!!! And ignore the dirty glass :p). They are only three weeks old today.

I hope your Ameraucana is a girly.

Yup, the first bird I clicker trained was a Sultan. So with these two being females (well, not 100% sure... but they are coming sexed as females) I can train them and keep them!

The chicks made it here alive! Unfortunately, we lost one of the WCB Polish soon after arrival, but everyone else is doing fine! The two Sultans are ADORABLE!!! I can't wait to start training them!

Anyone know if it's possible to change the name of a thread? Or is that ability only possessed by mods? Either way, I would like to change the name of the thread to Clicker Training Chickens, because I will not be training the Japs anymore... :)

Ask the mods what to do... I think changing the title would be good... glad your birds showed up.

Sultans are cool sort of sad how biased the show community became against Vulture Hocks (which used to be common in birds including many popular show breeds, because of it supposably meant they laid well, so lots of common barnyard birds had the trait) so now I think this is the only 1 breed it is okay in today.

Same thing happened with NN in Britain, such a common yard breed at one point, it was dismissed as unworthy to be shown. Isn't it funny how genetic traits that where deemed unfashionable & common become rare. I am glad both breeds have survived fashion, WWI & WWII, national livestock purity laws, and tons of other crazy stuff people imposed on other people concerning what to breed for. I am glad the Sultan Breeders maintained the Vulture Hock.

Sultans come in more colours in other countries... stunning birds. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/695356/azerbaijan-sultan-thread-azeri-type-sultan

Yep, and d'Uccles have vulture hocks, too!

I went to a show a couple of months ago, and there they had a white crested blue Sultan chick in the silent auction! I would have gotten it, but someone took the sheet and did the "buy now" (for a pre-set price) thingy. :(

I did not know the d'Uccles had Vulture Hocks as well, thanks for the info...

On the white crested blue sultan, oh that is going to be a smart looking bird, too bad they had a "buy it now" option in a silent auction (sort of ruins the fun of an auction).

Yup! And I was so looking forward to it! I was standing right there, guarding the sheet when this guy walks in front of me and pulls it off of the wall, along with a few other randomly selected ones. :/ I sorta stalked him until he and his wife went and got the chick (XD) and I knew it was not destined to be mine. :(
