We took our speckled Sussex to the vet today for a swollen eye. Vet drained it what looked like an abscess. No infection. Not a tumor. She suspected a clogged duct as the swelling is in the top side part of her mouth and into her cheek under eye. But she's unsure how to treat. Recommended warm compresses. Anyone have success treating this? Any recommendations?

Welcome to BYC.

Can you post some photos?
Any signs of coughing, sneezing, runny nose or discharge from the eyes?
Where was the abscess located?
Does the chicken have an odor?

I'll try to post pic later. No other symptoms. No smell, no sneezing, no discharge, no coughing. We had been giving shots of Tylan, but after 2 days of no improvement we called our vet and were surprised to learn they treat chickens.

The vet drained it and it was a clear liquid kind of sticky like saliva. The puffiness is right under the eye which is what caused us to think her eye was swollen.
