I was out in the driveway, getting ready to leave when I hear loud chick-chirping from the barn. I have a couple broodies that hatched 2 chicks (and share them) about a month ago....well, they free range and are always getting seperated from Mom. I figured it wouldn't hurt to check it out, glad I did- there was a chick floating in the cows water trough....wings spread, head held high. I pulled him out, he was freezing on the lower half and shivering like mad. I stuck him under a red light for a couple hours, he seems as good as new now and is back in with his Moms. Boy, chicks sure can give you grey hair!

yep, who knew cochin bantams could "swim"? I did a double take when I saw him floating on the top like that....he couldn't have been there long, he had a full crop, and I wonder if that helped him? Oh well. I think he is out of the woods now.

I'm glad you were nearby when it happened. That would have been an awful sight to come home too.

some chickens like water and a bath too!!! when mine broke her leg i used to give her warm baths everyday and now she follows me all over the place and wants me to pick her up and carry her all the time!!!if you could see me when i round them all up for bed lol i'm out there rounding them up and carrying one under my arm!!!!its pretty cute i think!!!!
