Hi Friends,
a horrible day today: Today's terrible weather caused my head to explode in the afternoon
with a massive migraines attack and i had to lay down and rest.
Woke up at 8pm, still feeling ill, but i had to lock up the duckies, so i crawled into the kitchen, prepared their supper bowl and all ducks complied nicely and walked into the house. Actually most of them did not even wait for me, they were so cold and wet, they just ran inside and were waiting for me to bring their supper.
Locked the door, said good-night and sweet dreams, walked back into the humon coop, straight back to the roost and went back to sleep.
A while later:
Rasp!
Rasp!
Rrraassp!
RASP!
… weird dream…
RASP! RRRAAASP! RASP?
Oh no! There must be a drake outside! - LIMPY!
He was limping around under my bedroom window, rasping in desperation!
I got out of the house, he saw me and immediately came limping to me.
Picked him up and he was all wet and cold and shivering! - You know it is serious when a drake cuddles with you!
So i took him inside and filled a bathtub with lukewarm water and let him bob around for ½ hour, then wrapped him into a towel and rubbed him dry.
He liked the bath but not the towel wrap, preferred to preene himself dry. After devouring the last stash of meal-worms, he walked up to the patio door and wanted back out to the other ducks. Carried him to the duck-house and released him to the others, so he can tell his story all night long.
I feel so terrible! How could i let this happen? And how can i prevent that from ever happening again in the future? - 20 Ducks and 9 Drakes, it is like pirañha flock in the evening… He must have fallen asleep in the pool (maybe having a headache too?) and i have not seen him and went back inside
