So many beautiful pictures!! So many beautiful breeds to choose from... not hard to see how chicken math gets a toe hold! I'm in sooooooo much trouble (and I'm just working on my beginning list!)
Mrs Fluffy, while I would like to try dual purpose, I am allowed to keep chickens on two conditions:
1) NONE are to be eaten
2) DH does not take care of them in any way.
I expect #2 to fall by the wayside, he's a bigger sucker for critters than I am and KNOW he won't be able to resist them. But #1 is here to stay, if I want edible birds I am to locate someone locally who offers them ready for the table (and no I can't send mine to them to be "prepared"... I tried that one, won't fly).
That doesn't mean a couple won't make their way to the coop, after all, pretty is pretty, just that they won't be eaten
