Closed red, swollen eye

looks just like red girls eye. I've been using terramycin ointment. After 2 treatments once a day she is now somewhat opening her eye.

she is doing about the same, thanks again for asking. Her eye still bulges out but now I think it's her actual eyeball that has something wrong with it. Before I thought it was something growing over her eyeball, but recently when I've looked at it, I can see veins in them. She seems to be acting relatively normally besides the fact that she can't run straight

That seems like good news! I'm still hoping someone will know what this is. I've still been searching from time to time and just can't find anything like it. Does the eye respond to light at all? If someone could hold her while you get a picture of it, that would be great.

I'm due to see the eye doctor this month and will ask her.

The eye doesn't seem to respond to light or anything. I haven't been able to find anything either, in my searches. I have kind of given up looking until there is some kind of development. As long as she is acting like she's ok, that's all I care about. Here is the most recent picture of her eye, from November 14th. It gets dirty from time to time but I rinse it out whenever it does.

It definitely looks great compared to the end of August! Thank you very much for sharing the picture. It's great she's getting around okay too. I will do some searching and will also ask my eye doctor when I'm there.

She is the same. I tried the eye ointment but I think it was just too late to do anything for it. At this point I think as long as she is acting okay, I'll leave her alone and just keep an eye on her. It's just difficult to monitor her when it's cold out and I"m not spending as much time with my girls as I normally would. I found a lot of dried blood on one of the roosting bars the other day (the one that usually my wyandotte sleeps on alone) but I didn't see any injuries on any of them, so... yay, the joy of chicken-keeping.

I'm glad she's still acting okay! It's disappointing the ointment didn't work, but I'm glad you could try it. Hopefully it will continue to heal on its own.

Hang in there over the winter! Please keep us updated.
