Cloudy Days in the Coop - My Adventures with Chickens.

Pics
Awww....poor little guy Salamander. Chickens are vicious! :D These things happen.

Oooh, I love frost! We had a bit this morning too. Got up to 53 today, I think this week will be in the 50s for highs.

Hope you and your flock had a fabulous day today! :)
Yes, you’re right. :) Though I do feel awfully bad.

Frost is so beautiful! I’m hoping to get a heavier frost soon. :D Sounds like it became a little warmer for you! :)

My chickens had a pretty good day - it was beautiful out, but that hawk was back - so they made do with some bugs from my mealworm farm and some dandelions and such. They still complained, though. :D

I feel bad for things too, you and I are a couple of softies. :D

I love how frost sparkles and glitters. The air is so crispy, I just love it!

Oh no, the hawk was back?! Sounds like they got extra pampering from you though, better safe than sorry! :)

I did enter one picture earlier of baby Mochi, the picture that is usually my profile picture. (Just not right now. :D). I didn't get around to entering any others, but thank you very much!

Reading that really touched my heart! I highly encourage you take some pictures - it’s extremely fun to do, and, as I always say when I look at a blurry picture I took - ”No matter what, it’s always a work of art!”
I love that saying! I might tape that to the camera...

You have a mealworm farm? I am considering starting one. What do you think of it?

I find keeping mealworms to be very easy. I put them in a plastic box with the top open (Though you can cover it with wire), added a layer of grains (Anything from wheat bran to cornmeal ), and put some veggies on top for their water, replacing the food and veggies when they were eaten. Then, when I want to give my chickens a treat, I grab some worms from the box and give it to them. :D The mealworms eventually turn into beetles, but my chickens like those, too. A mealworm and beetle fest! Anyway, keeping mealworms is easy and fun, especially when you watch your chickens diving after the bugs you raised yourself. :D So, yes, I think that starting one is a great idea!

ETA: How is the flock today?
My flock is doing great! Today, it’s been heavy rain, so they have all gathered under the coop. It’s a beautiful day, nonetheless, with all the pretty fall colors! Here are a few pictures from today:

Beautiful photos of nature and flock, love the colors and the birds look so happy and healthy! :love

Thank you, Leyla! Almost all of my chickens have finished their molt, so they’re looking much more happy now. :D
I can tell from here how beautiful they have feathered in, 💖 I bet they are glad to be done molting! They will be nice and warm this winter with all those healthy feathers! :)
