They are pets in that they have names and personalities and I take pictures of them and buy special treats or bring home big branches and things I think they will like. But I don't know that I would have even thought to keep chickens if my family didn't eat a dozen eggs a day. So they're pets with a purpose!
Post a picture of some of your girls. My rooster is young and single. LOL

not beloved pets like our dogs, we don't name all of our hens, just a couple outstanding ones! We make treats and toys for our hens, so not livestock either!

Not sure if this is both or other...

Chickenwise everybirdy here gets named. They also get treats and cuddles and attention (sitting in laps, getting neck scratches, etc).

They are companions, entertainment, workers, and... food. The meat birds will get as much spoiling as we can manage in their 7 weeks. We truly love them while they’re here.

The layers will be around a lot longer, but their job is still to provide food. At the end of egg-laying, they’ll probably be eaten or rehomed. (Except Strawberry will probably be kept on as senior hen when we raise new layers.)

Livestock I take care of them all the same only ones named are two roosters
One day my marans rooster got out spent the night in the blackberrry.. I went in the morning started talking to him, "do you want to go to your girls?"
turned started walking back to the coop Bf said he is folowing you and he did right back to his coop

Pets definitely! We picked up our 10 rescues just over a week ago and we're determined to give them as long and happy life as we can.

Picking 10 names is hard though :idunno

A theme can help with naming large groups:

mickey, Minnie, daisy, goofy, Donald....
Or
Skittles, starburst, snickers...
Or
Ursa, canis, Rigel, Betelgeuse....
