2.5 year old RIR Rooster panic crowed me awake at 3 am to tell me the chicks (10 weeks old) were out in the run alone, the temperature had dropped significantly and it had started raining. He was too warm and dry to go out of the coop to get them...
The hens refused to help the babies so he screeched until the pink featherless "food" monkey came to the rescue.
I swear, these birds are human dependant, manipulative, soul stealing, lazy boogers.
And no, I had nothing to do with it....lol
 
That is pretty neat actually! I always am reading about the negative side of roosters, this is a refreshing example that shows they have a job and do it well! Protection! Thank you for sharing!!
