Coated grass seed vs ducks/geese

hi! I have 2 Sebastopol geese and a little flock of ducks that free range around my pond during the day and have a closed off shelter at night. I just laid down KY 31 coated grass seed around the pond to get it to grow since it was all just made 2 years ago and the grass seed last year didn’t totally take.

1. Is it safe for them to eat if I release them tomorrow?

2. Do they need to be kept put up until it grows grass?

I had this same question a few years ago, and I ended up buying a 50 pound sack of "pasture mix" seed in order to be certain it wouldnt hurt my ducks and geese.
I dont know if we can get it in smaller bags , maybe on ebay. I also had to set up temp fences across pens, and do one section at a time, to keep them off it until it grew up enough that they wouldnt kill it right away.
