Coating foam incubator idea

After looking into making my own incubator and liking the idea of using a plastic cooler then just breaking down and just bought a genesis 1588 incubator because of reviews and price but didn't like the idea of it being foam. I felt like it is an investment and would be worth protecting. So I began looking for some sort of coating to protect the foam and found this http://www.smooth-on.com/Epoxy-Coatings-EPS/c1397_1400/index.html

I think I'm going to go ahead and try it. Once dry it is like a plastic coating that is resistant to the heat of the incubator and the humidity. I've read of people coating the inside with silicone but think this will be just as good.

Any thoughts?

I finally coated the incubator with this stuff. I did the inside first and the product does exactly what it says. There is a nice hard shell covering the foam. I did the outside today and once it cures I'll post up some pics.

You have to measure out the two parts by weight so a digital scale is perfect. I just used grams for measurement and the inside took about 300g part A and 60g part B. Outside was 200g A and 40g B. It is thick like honey and has to be brushed on. Probably less mess than smearing silicone.

Just an update on this.
I'm still using the incubator and the plastic coating is still just like the day I put it on.

I hope you did a test run on the coated incubator, just incase the conditions might cause fumes to leech out. Smell and touch test would tell a lot.
