I noticed some red/orange in their poop this morning. (Photos are when I first saw it, and after I prodded at it with a stick a few times)

My immediate thought is it’s Cocci, but we’ve treated them with Corid on and off several times over the past 3 months. So I don’t know if the cocci parasite is just respawning/rehatching a lot.

I’ve heard about intestinal lining shedding looking similar, but I can’t find any good information on what that looks like, and how frequently that happens.

Our vet said that giving them too much Corid isn’t good and can potentially kill hens through thiamine deficiency.

Only one or two of the 9-11 species of coccidia that are currently known to effect poultry will appear as blood in droppings.. and this is incongruent with what that would look like.

It does appear to possibly be shed intestinal lining.

Have you had the droppings tested for other parasites or wormed them in the past? Only large round worm and tape worms may be seen with the naked eye. All others will remain in the intestinal tract and only their microscopic oocyst (eggs) will be passed in droppings.

How old are your birds?

The first picture almost looks like possible oviduct material.

We only have 2 birds, 5.5mo and 6mo old. I know we’ve had cocci before as one of the pullets who died had cocci show up in the necropsy.

If it were easier to do I would get the poop tested, but the vets in my area require us to establish care per animal, pay a deposit, and have an initial in person appt before I can even get the poop tested.

I find it incredibly hard to find clear images online of what an intestinal lining shedding looks like. Most pictures come from posts like this where someone isn’t sure if it’s cocci or intestine.
