Hi everyone. My 4 week old chick is not well. This Saturday past we noticed she was lethargic and ruffled. I administered a cocci treatment but stopped the next day because I noticed her crop was swollen and didn't want to unnecessarily treat her... since then she has gotten worse. Not preening, still ruffled and acting cold. She's not eating, the last time I saw her eat was 2 days ago. A bit of yogurt mixed with chick starter.. when I came home today the poor thing had sticky yellow near her vent which I cleaned off. She's definitely smelly I just don't know if it's from a lack of hygiene or a yeast infection... all her poops have been wet and today they are yellow mucous. .any help???

I honestly don't remember the name. I went to the farm I bought her from and they gave it to me in a syringe. I believe it started with a "K". I administered some yesterday and today.. I'm just worried it may be vent gleent. There was a very very small dot of blood in her stool yesterda, hence the cocci treatment.

Corid?
If she has coccidiosis and isn't eating or drinking then she isn't going to be pooping which could be causing the hard stuck stuff.

Did you buy liquid or powder Corid?
You need to make sure she is drinking water or she will die.

Can you go look at the stuff you bought and tell me what exactly it is so I can help you calculate a drench dose that you can drop on her beak now.

Also.
Try wetting a small amount of feed, measure it 1/4 of a cup, so you can monitor exactly how much she is eating.
Mix a little scrambled egg into the wet feed.
Having it wet, think oatmeal consistency, will help get water into her so she doesn't dehydrate.

No. It wasn't corid. The farmer syringed 3cc of liquid and told me to give her 1/2ml per quart as I only have 2 chicks. She's drinking lots I usually have to pick her up and put her in front of the water

Noone is around the farm until tomorrow morning. I am certain whatever it was started with a K. Would it be viable to administer an antibiotic treatment whilst treating for cocci?

I'm wondering if this "K" stuff is an antibiotic.

You mentioned you only gave one dose or was it one day of it?
You can't stop giving most medicine until you give the full treatment of it.

Can you go buy/pick up some Corid now/today?
