Hi! I had posted a bit ago about my chicks with cocci! They appear to be better - my question is about my outside flock. Am I able to integrate the girls who were sick (11) outside with my flock of five!? I don’t want to subject my original girls to any kind of sickness. What’s best to do to ensure all safety!!

Do you mean the bacteria cocci or the parasite coccidia? If the former, and the chicks were treated with antibiotics, no risk to the older chickens. If the latter, the parasite, which I suspect is what you really mean, it depends on where your chicks picked it up. If they got it in your run or yard, your adults should be already resistant to that strain, as they have already been exposed to it. If your chicks picked it up elsewhere, they could be bringing in a different strain, and that could cause some issues, or could be fine. Just watch your adults for signs like lethargy, loose stool or blood in the stool.

I got silkies from a farm nearby and o believe they were the culprits as it was the only change before the gorla got sick- none have been in contact with my outside flock which is why I was worried about when it’s time to integrate them
