Coccidiosis Help!

No problem.  We had a hard time finding Corid and ended up finding the powder in the cattle section of our local TSC.  From what it looks like from other threads, the vaccine is not 100% effective.  Someone chime in if this information is not correct.  Coccidiosis can kill quickly and I would medicate the entire flock.  We used Corid powder.  The dose is 1 and a half teaspoon per gallon of water for 5 to 7 days.  Make fresh daily.  After the 5 to 7 days, we medicated with a third of a teaspoon per gallon of water for a week.  I have heard the liquid form is better, but we couldn't find that.  The dose for the liquid, I think, is 2 teaspoons per gallon of water for 5 to 7 days.  Make fresh daily.  Also, do not add any vitamins or electrolytes to the water and make sure the Corid water is the only source of water they are drinking.  I hope this helps.  Good luck and keep us updated.
got the powdered form and am starting treatment now...again, thanks for the info :)

You dogs don't need to be treated just because your chickens are. And I think it's usually a problem with puppies, not adults.

My puppies are probably old enough to have good immunity to it, but they are in a kennel with a dirt floor which is being rained on in the heat and making warm mud, so I'm nervous about it. I want to take preventive measures just in case. If they all got sick at once it'd be disastrous.

Yesterday I noticed a couple of pudding poops and slightly lower appetites, so that's enough to freak me out. Today everything seems back to normal. I guess the dosage I used is good for their size and age.

this is the most recent poop I didn't take one yesterday unfortunately

Okay, so I see what *might* be intestinal lining in the poop. Probably a good idea to start this one on Corid. Do you have a kitchen scale?

I'm not sure if I have a kitchen scale. I'll look but I got so worried I started all of them on Corid yesterday. I did the 1 1/2 teaspoons to 1 gallon and then gave the one I think is the most sick some in her seperate pen

Is it normal when they have coccidiosis for them to have watery eyes and sneeze?

Sometimes they can have coccidiosis and something else, but coccidiosis does not cause sneezing and watery eyes. That poop looks like it coul be a cecal poop, but if she keeps pooping like that I would say that there is a very good chance that she does have coccidiosis. Can you get Corid?

I have started her on Corid, and she just pooped again and it looks normal with possibly a little blood in it.

Make sure she drinks enough... might want to mix some of her chick crumbles with the medicated water, that might help get more food, water and medication into her.

If she does have something else, is the Corid going to help that or do I need something else? And she eats a lot I'm constantly refilling the dish. I'll try to make sure she gets more water too!!
