Maybe, but could you get a picture of the bird?New hen. Is this coccidiosis? Thanks. View attachment 2970668
Supposed to be 8 months old. I haven’t noticed anything else specifically. We didn’t quarantine her. Rookie mistakeIt's hard to rule out coccidiosis since it is so common. How old is the bird and have you noticed other symptoms? Did you quarantine her for 30 days before introducing her to the rest of the flock?
That’s alright. Coccidiosis is a possibility, she might be egg bound.Supposed to be 8 months old. I haven’t noticed anything else specifically. We didn’t quarantine her. Rookie mistake
It happens! There may very well be nothing at all wrong with her; chickens occasionally shed their intestinal lining. I would go ahead and treat her and any other chickens she is in contact with for coccidiosis. Coccidiosis is easily treatable if caught early and it won't hurt to go ahead and treat everyone.Supposed to be 8 months old. I haven’t noticed anything else specifically. We didn’t quarantine her. It seems weird, right? But indeed they do. Here's a post that breaks down intestinal sheds vs. blood in poop: https://polystead.com/red-chicken-poop/ from the perspective of another poultry-keeper.Wait, they do that?

Thanks for asking! In looking to find more info on your question, I also learned something new: that you can tell the difference between shed intestinal lining from blood by putting it in water. That sounds like a neat trick if it works. Thanks!
