Coccidosis despite antibiotic

I remember someone on a post here saying never mix ACV in the water of corrid, it negates the corrid. But they stated no reason why, I don't know if I buy that....

sorry for multiple posts.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't mix corid with ACV in water. But since the feed is fermented with ACV, maybe mixing it in with the feed isn't great (unless I get dry). Thats what I'm trying to say.

I don't know what's involved in fermenting, so I'd recommend making a fresh batch of wet feed daily using nothing but dry feed and medicated water.

I don't know if Corid and AVC interact with each other. There are some vets that say it's possible for medications to react poorly with hard water, so I guess anything is possible.

Can you use corid at the same time as antibiotic?

I dont recommend it. Mixing different products together can change their chemical properties rendering them ineffective or possibly causing internal damage, or death. Also, using one product causes enough stress on their system as it is. Use one product (corid,) then give probiotics for several days to rebuild good bacteria in gut flora. Then after several days, give the antibiotic and then provide probiotics afterwards.

The only thing I can think of is that there is thiamine in raw ACV and any extra could possibly affect a thiamine blocker. That said, there's thiamine in chicken feed and the minute amount in a tablespoon of ACV added to a gallon of water couldn't possibly cause an issue.

probiotics after meds
and vitamins after a course of Amprolium.

Semi-hypothetical question... How would any of your treat a bird on death's door if you suspected one or more of the following:

  • Cocciciosis
  • Capillary worms
  • Histomoniais
  • E. Coli
  • Enteritis

Edited to add: Fecal exam is negative
