Cochin color breeding questions

How would you recommend I move forward with that? I’d love to get into a breeding project with them, thinking breeding the offspring back to the crele roo?

Do you know the background of your crele rooster or the mille fleur, and do you have pictures of their daughter as a chick?

Some cochin breeders were using barred brown reds for their crele projects rather than partridge.

I know zilch about their genetics, they were given to me. I’ll attach pics of the chicks I will attach picture of their most recent hatchlings, the daughter in the previous pic as well. She appeared all black & white barred, the gold came in later

Ok, the mom seems heterozygous for the pattern gene, which is expected.

Dad... does not look "correct" for cochin crele. He has alot of black in the hackles and appears split for gold/silver, or otherwise has something diluting gold. I believe he may be birchen based, but I could be wrong

If you breed the offspring together, or even back to mom and dad you should see some interesting combinations, such as mottled and barring on the same bird. But because the parents are both out of project varieties it will be hard to predict.

Thanks so much!! I have 8 of their babes who are just about 3 weeks old, I’ll definitely be hanging onto them to see how they feather out & use them as broodies!
