Cochin Gender

So here's a picture of my other Buff Cochin...s/he's a little darker in color and the comb & waddles are still not as red as Reggie's.  This one is the friendliest, most curious, follows me around, and cuddled with the OEGBs when they were little.  He's a cockeral too, isn't he???  They are the only two cochins I have ever seen, so I don't have much to compare them too...both are 11 weeks old...

100% boy on that one!

Heybarb my white chickie's wattles are not as long and comb not as tall as either of your buffs. I say roo for both. Don't you just love Cochins? You should get your boys some Cochin hens, you will love them just as much!

Aoxa.....BEAUTIFUL girl, I am in live with her ! What do you call that color?

White cochin hens do have bright red combs and wattles but if they grow any taller and longer it will be a roo. Are the hackle feathers rounded or more pointed? Rounded = pullet Pointed=roo. :thumbsup

As far as I know, rounded everything. I'll look again tonight. I had a definite cockerel same age and his comb/wattles were way bigger.

Her mother was partridge, her father was buff - she has the light buff colouring, but a lot of partridge markings.

You can see the markings a bit better here. Her name is Honey, and she is beyond sweet. :D Thank you for the compliments!

We got the last two cochins from TSC and my daughter is so disappointed that they are both boys!! I absolutely love watching them strut around the yard. One friend said "I love your chicks with the bell bottoms!" and I knew exactly who she was talking about!

It's funny looking at your photo, I was like, "Hey, she looks like Reggie & Scooter, maybe they are really girls!" but then after I posted the pictures and could compare them...I was like "Man, definitely boys!!" They are a little older than your girl, but they've "looked" like this for a while. Oh, well, now I have to find some girls for them! We've definitely got 3 roosters - one of my little OEGB/Silkies is a rooster too - with 7 hens. Now I need to figure out who has to go...the good news is I've got a friend willing to take one - and not for dinner!
