Blue has a thin line of lacing...

Self-blue (AKA lavender) is a completely different color that will breed true. It shows as even very pale blueish-grey. Blue- which is from the andalusian color- will not breed tru- you will get blue, black & splash from a breeding of 2 blues. Blue should also show lacing, and usually the blue birds are darker at the top. Some almost black.

Lavender bantam cochins are widely available, but still need work on type. Many I have seen still closely resemble d'uccles- not nearly as "round" as they should be. LF lavender cochins are still in the project stages in the US.

Blue (BBS) are fairly common now- but still quite desireable.
