Cochin thread!

This is my oldest little pullet (5 wks). She came from either black/buff or buff/black or blue. I had them all in the same pen at the time I pulled those eggs for hatching.

There’s actually little Cochins in here. They hide underneath the sea of RIRs!

All three of my black cochin's eggs have hatched! I only get to keep one though since we don't have enough room in our coop. I think I know which one I'm going to keep already. She is a Coco x Blue cross and she just looks like a blue cochin. We named her Stella so I hope it will be a girl. The other two Coco crosses are also Coco and Blue. They are both black though, I'm pretty sure.

I'm sure that Margo could post a picture of them eventually.

My Cochin is broody AND she laid an egg (so a bit if a staggered hatch). It looked like it was on day 3

The father should be Raven who's an OE so I'm pretty excited about the offspring!

I have 2 different clutches under 4 broody hens right now, all BCs. They all went broody within a week of each other, roughly.

Years ago I fell in love with my daughter-in-law’s Cochin. He was huge and beautiful! Then recently I seen that my neighbor has a splash bantam Cochin and I fell in love with it!

I set out to find some hatching eggs and drove hours to pick them up to give them the best chance of hatching.

I now have a dozen little bantam chicks hatched from blue parents. Looks like I may have ONE splash out of all of them. Lol
I can’t wait to see how they all develop!

My grandson even put his ice cream aside to be able to “snuggle” a baby chick lol
