Craig-
I know that you'll be busy for a while getting everything set in the new coop. However, when you get a chance could/would you go through a description or floor plan of the new coop. Im hoping to build a new barn this Spring and would like to gather some ideas for pens. Currently I have several smaller units (2 or 3 breeding pens each) but would like to move birds into one or two locations for Winter and growing out.
From the bits posted already yours looks like a great facility!
A quick question, what about electric, heat, and water?

I am only using an oil filled radiator type electric heater for heat at this time. Only on the 600 watt setting so I can work but not overheat. ! have a 100 amp Panel for power. I put power outside both doors. I put outlets near each door and on both sides of each window as well as 2 in the ceiling. I used GFCI on all circuits because it is much better to do it right the first time.
I have considered running propane to the building for heat but I can probably heat to 35-40 cheaper with electricity when you consider installation costs.
I have bought the low pressure cup waterers for the pens. Just not done them yet. I have a Hydrant right out side the door to get water to the building.
A quick 5 minute drawing that is pretty close to accurate but still open for modifications.
They are just splash. Self blues or lavendar as some call them do not produce splash. Splash are the result of two dilution genes which are typically called "Andalusian Blue" genes. Self blues reproduce themselves 100% when bred together but "Andalusian Blues" produce three variations due to the co-dominant nature of the gene, example: breeding two blue birds together will produce birds that are genotypically and phenotypically black or 25% of the chicks, 50% should be blue which mean they carry a black gene and a dilution gene which causes the leaden blue color with the dark lacing, 25% should come out the color you have above which is a result of both dilution genes. Splash birds when bred together will produce 100% splash chicks since they are homozygous for the dilution gene.
not marek's it would not improve. they can injure themselves just like people do and if it got better that would be my thoughtIt sounds like possibly Marek's disease.![]()
