This is about 20 weeks old. It had a really well developed comb at a young age, but doesn't crow, doesn't fight with our leghorn rooster. We had many cochins but they were all eaten by a raccoon (this cochin and the rooster are all that survived) and this cochin was significantly bigger than the rest but now I am questioning it's rooster-ness.


So...rooster or hen?


I can get better pictures of it. This was taken between downpours of rain.

This is definitely a rooster. A female of the same variety would be a different color-- this is a male color pattern. The reason why he isn't crowing and has a small comb is probably because he is a subordinate, not the dominant male.
 
Thanks, that was my original thought but my darling husband made me start doubting myself.
