Breed: Mottled Cochin bantams
Hatchery
Age: 20 weeks tomorrow (May 5th hatch date, in case I can't math.)
Ordered: 3♀️, 1♂️ - the male was banded.
- 10 other chicks ordered
We lost 4 total, including 1 Cochin.
My partner removed the band IDing the male within the 1st 6 hrs, certain he could ID him.
I am not convinced.
So at 20 weeks, somebody is laying, and nobody is crowing. (Except the-Porcelain-who-should-have-been-a-girl-but-crowed-at-5.5weeks, the Mille Fleur boy, and the OEGB - who personifies "L'il banty rooster")

So sorry, but with triple-digits this summer, our misting system has caused some feather shredding.

If I mislabeled anyone,
KateWalker has almost no white on the back or bustle (tail pouf), Pickles has most mottling on the back, and JustYou has more tail mottling.

*Edit - going to get better Pickles pics.

If there is a male in the group, he is very late in development, especially for a bantam. If you are certain there is a male my bet is that it is Just You.

But to me they all look like females. By 20 weeks a male should be very apparent, and especially in a bantam, which develop faster, in most cases.

I definitely agree with @JedJackson.
I saw only females. Just You looks to be the layer.
Are you sure that the Cochin you lost was not the male?

Also, Kate Walker is beautiful!!
Possibly broody.

Thanks for your expertise.

I only got a couple of glimpses at the banded chick, and I've always thought it was mis-identified. They were shipped to El Paso TX in May with a heat pack, and missed the DAILY truck to my town by an hour. They spent 23 hours at a USPS hub.
Dehydration, heat exhaustion, but we only lost 4 of 14, and I'm not surprised there was confusion. Either way, no male.
And thanks, @JedJackson for helping me ID this little guy: GameBoy (aka PlayBoy, aka Idiot...teenagers roosters)🙄

The Porcelain is from the cochin group, 2 weeks older, than these others, but she's one we almost lost: 20.1g at 12 days, and 40.1g at 20 days. Very spoiled little Diva🥰

Oh, @TheChickenGirl16 , I believe KateWalker is actually the layer. Whomever, this was the first egg!
Thought it was a rock, but too lightweight 🙃
