“Always,” said Willow.“Cool! I’ll ask her tonight! Will you be back here tomorrow?” Gaia asked. Maybe she’d get to have a friend after all. One who was like her.
“Cool!”“Always,” said Willow.
Willow wasn’t sure what fatter meant but she knew the chickens called her a wild turkey because she was found in the forest. “Yes, the chickens are my friends. Like my friend Stephanie!” She looked around. “Oh, where did she go?”“Cool!”
Gaia wondered what she should say next.
“Do you have any friends here? I’m assuming your a wild Turkey. Most domesticated ones look much fatter. “
“You’re part of one of the flocks? Interesting. “ Gaia clucked, scratching some moss, and revealing a large worm. She motioned for Willow to take it. “I didn’t think chickens took in other birds naturally. Into their flock.”Willow wasn’t sure what fatter meant but she knew the chickens called her a wild turkey because she was found in the forest. “Yes, the chickens are my friends. As a matter of fact, she was larger than the typical wild turkey poult, but of course, she didn’t know that. She had never seen one.
“Thanks,” said Willow, struggling with the worm. No matter what the little poult did, she couldn’t gulp it down. Gripping the worm in her beak, she managed “Well they found me, lost and alone. I don’t know where my mother went.”“You’re part of one of the flocks? Interesting. “ Gaia clucked, scratching some moss, and revealing a large worm. “So you were abandoned?”“Thanks,” said Willow, struggling with the worm. No matter what the little poult did, she couldn’t gulp it down. Gripping the worm in her beak, she managed “Well they found me, lost and alone. I don’t know where my mother went.”
“I don’t know,” said Willow. “I got lost one day, and when I got back the nest was gone, siblings gone… Mom was gone…” she murmured. How she missed those warm feathers, that loving presence, her mother!“So you were abandoned?”
“She may have been shot by a hunter. Did you hear a loud bang?”“I don’t know,” said Willow. “I got lost one day, and when I got back the nest was gone, siblings gone… Mom was gone…” she murmured. How she missed those warm feathers, that loving presence, her mother!
“No,” Willow stammered.“She may have been shot by a hunter. Did you hear a loud bang?”
