Yesterday, my 16 week old roo gave his 1st cock-doodle-do.

He was cute. I think he was as surprised as we were.

4:00 Sunday afternoon he decide to let it rip. Haven't heard him since.

Maybe he is like a little baby and has his days and nights mixed up.

Hopefully, my pullets were listening and now know it is time to start giving me some EGGS ! !

It has been 24 hours and I haven't heard from him again.

Maybe he scared himself !

When my roo crows, he sounds like he's running low on air at the end, "RrOOOooo.uhhh"

I think it's so funny when they start in crowing. I burst out laughing every time. Some roos could do with a little more practice.!!!! My blue cochin has a very rusty crow and my black and red mixed roo is very screeechy!!!![He's part black langshan and new hampshire red].

I love first crows! Today I went home to hear my little 12 week old cuckoo maran cockeral making his first crows. He had it down too! Over and over he crowed. Such a cute and miniature sound. He has the big boys to show him how it's done though as he's in the grow out pen and he gets to hear all the big boys all day long.

I love to hear cockerels when they are learning to crow....brings me back to when my boys were teenagers and their voices were changing!!!

Something I've always noticed is the sound at the end of a crow...

My two D'Uccles do it - they go Er-ER ERRRRRRRRRR-ERRRRRRRR-buuuuuh....the buuuuh sound is always at the end

Anyone else have roo's that do that?

Yes, my EE roo does that. It's like he takes a big deep breath and he crows big and loud and at the end, his lungs give out. LOL
