Cockatoo

I have been to many of sanctuaries and many of the birds are cockatoos because people don't realize how loud and destructive they are. They loudness you said that the lady said she had is typical of cockatoos so I wouldn't worry about that unless a lot of loud noise bothers you. I feel very bad for the lady having to give up her birds and with her cancer
I love bird noise keeps me sane, is it not the best noise? People that hate bird noise should not keep birds :love

My son is 16 and my daughter 10 and I have kept budgies for years and I feel I know a lot about them. I have a good amount of free time but maybe they would need to be alone some hours when I work shifts. My daughter loves the birds and I have told her when I go on to the next life she will need to care for them as I am 42 now (We joke about it) but it's likely reality :D
Oh OK, with your children that old you should be fine( I thought you meant really young) if you have the free time and bird experience I think you may have a good fit!

I thought my conure was loud .....nope....my cockatoo is much louder.

Conure kakarikis a macaw and some lovebirds. I will take her and see how it goes.
I agree you should take her and if it's just not a good fit you can give her to the sanctuary. Think about it this way she would have went to a sanctuary without your try to help her either way so there's no harm in at least trying and hoping it works out. What kind of cockatoo is she my cookie is a umbrella cockatoo

One of my family friends has a Macaw. Even though the Macaw was raised with the family, he ONLY likes the dad. He will not let anyone else touch him under any circumstance.
That's very weird 😕 I was either going to get a macaw or a cockatoo but when I seen how huge the macaws were I went with a cockatoo.
