H there,

I have just added three new Pullets to the flock who are about 16 weeks old. They have been living side by sides for 1 month and now I have added them to the flock and the rooster charges and pecks them the hens leave them alone and happily sleep next to them on the perch but the rooster just hates them.

Why is this happening and what can I do about it?

I'd separate the rooster for a awhile.
Is he aggressive with the older hens?

ETA: He's probably just trying to dominate them, that's his job.
Have you ever integrated chicken before?
Is he drawing blood or pinning them down and not letting them go?

At 16 weeks they are juvenile / little girls. I would run them off as well if they were competition with my hens that can mother my chicks. GIve them separate roosting arrangements if actual damage caused.

Hi guys thank you all for your replies no he is not drawing blood and he is really sweet with my older hens. He just chases them around loads and pecks them really hard if he gets close Enough. so should I Separate him? For how long?

Hanks again
