Yes he is indeed a barred rock rooster (he is now full grow so that is why I call he a rooster instead of a cockerel)

Thanks! One of my favorite birds. Hoping he's a good foundation for my barred rock program. I've had rocks in the past that were friendly, but nothing close to these from Dick - I can't say enough about his stock. My 9 y.o. can handle the hens and rooster alike - they're as close to pet temperament as I imagine you can get out of livestock - 2 year old doesn't pick them up (our rule for bird and child safety, not out of anything the birds do). I'll add another dozen of Horstman's stock - likely next year to add to whatever I hatch out of my own this. If you ever get an inkling to add these guys to your flock - I can't praise Horstman's birds enough.Echo is gorgeous
