Cockerel crowing throughout the night

It’s normal, I have 4 roosters they all start crowing at 3:00am and stop at 7:00am. I have no lamp or heat in their coop.
You’re lucky, My Spike just crows whenever for Willy-nilly... I swear he’s saying...”stick. It in yoouurr eeaarr!!” :)
That’s a possibility. Why don’t you try the ceramic reptile lights that do not give off light but still give off heat? I would be afraid to keep the lights on in the coop. It must be cold where you are.

I *used* to have one that would crow... "Eat me for dinnnerrrr!" :drool

No...they are in a coop right?
They should be fine still.

If you are uncomfortable... take a peek at them during the coldest hour and look for any shivering.

I doubt it will have much impact on your night time crowing but it could help. Mine do it all the time, but each bird is an individual. Since he is still young.. he may still mature with less night time crowing... teenagers are worst... in all species! My family has adjusted to hearing it and fortunately the neighbors are far enough away... I've got 11 cockerels and a rooster a crowing us a symphony... which is about half my summer time load.

if you have close neighbors who are active at night, or you are close to a road or highway i would suspect the noise and outside activities are causing your rooster to crow.
otherwise i suspect the light from the lamps.
you need to remove the extra heat from the coop. the chickens do not need it.
the extra heat from the lamps can actually be damaging in the long run.
first i must mention the fire hazard. even just the feather dust and dander can build up on the bulb to catch on fire. it also disrupts there sleep pattern if they never get darkness.
if you constantly keep them warm and then the bulb goes out or power is off. Then they are cold because they have become accustomed to the artificial warmth.
Again, 30 or 15 is not cold to a chicken.
i have never heated my coop and i get temperatures in the minus numbers here in Michigan each winter.

It’s really not cold where we live. It has dipped below 30. My husband thinks they will be cold. We are going to shut it off and see if it helps with the crowing. Also going to try the ceramic lamps! Thanks for the advice!
Doesn’t really sound like you need heat unless maybe some of your chickens have really big floppy combs.. Otherwise they are fully outfitted with dense down jackets.
