Cockerel or Pullet? 1 day old.

Hi All,

I know this is extremely difficult at such a young age but it’s nice to get some early opinions. This is my 1 day old Buff Orpington chick. Thanks.

You're about 8 weeks too soon to ask that question. Give it time. And as @Alexandra33
said, unless it was an auto-sexing or sex linked breed, which a BO isn't, nobody could help you from a pic.

4 weeks is really the earliest for any kind of certainty BUT having said that I swear I have had a surprising amount of success sexing single combed chicks based on how their comb looks literally right after hatch when they are still not even fluffed up. For this your chick is actually too old!

Anyway for your little one I'm going to go with a wild guess/hunch of cockerel just for fun. Let us know how he/she turns out in a few weeks.
