Cockerel?

I think I posted this in the wrong thread the other day.

I've had this buff Orpington chick for almost 3 weeks (Saturday), and I think it was 3 or 4 days old when I got it. Yesterday I noticed a darkening and growing comb and dark red wattles starting to form. His feathers are also coming in thinner than the others.

Any guess on whether or not it is a Cockerel?

I am by far no expert and its all new to me also but I think its still a little young to tell , I would wait another week or so and post updated pics .

With how red those tiny little wattles are, I would feel comfortable saying cockerel.

Might still be too early to tell. Last year, I knew my Buff Orpington was a boy chicken at 2 weeks old (based entirely on his demeanor - he would venture away from me and the other girls - at a slow, assured pace - and didn’t always come back when I made mama chicken sounds at him. There was just something about his aura that made me certain). But I was also convinced my Wyandotte was a boy up until about 5 months old due to early comb and wattle development/coloring, but she turned out to be a pullet. Good luck!
