I don't know on loudness. I'd assume as loud as they can. And when it comes to age, I've heard of them starting at 6 weeks, to never starting at all. My roo started at 16 weeks. He crowed 3 times, then didn't crow for a week or two. Then he crowed about 5-10 times in the morning for two weeks. After that, he started crowing about 50 times in the morning with random bouts during the day. We still haven't gotten off of that... But he's still a baby.

I dunno, I haven't measured the decibels or anything...
my Wyandotte roosters have a much softer crow than my Orpingtons...
seem to have started around a normal age.. 3 or 4 months
