I know I've posted them here before, but I'm still not sure. My two youngsters are about 11 weeks old now. Mixed breeds, the brown one has some EE blood. Are those tail feathers on the brown one just bent pullet feathers or are they sickle feathers coming in? I can't see any pointed hackle or saddle feathers on him/her so far. What about the black one? Neither of them has ever crowed. The black one behaves more dominantly. Sorry for the low picture quality, had to use my phone and they just don't stand still ever.

They both look female to me. Pullets get those funky tail feathers and molt out of them. Otherwise, the bird looks feminine to me. Were she male, I'd expect a much larger comb at the age, as well as more vibrant coloring. I love her soft color, she's very pretty.

Thanks to you all. So it looks on the plus side like I'll get more eggs over the summer

. On the other side, I'll have to re-think if I want to buy a rooster (actually, I very much want to but I'm not sure it's a reasonable wish with limited space and small children around...) sigh. I sort of had hoped to get an "accidental" rooster so that no one could blame me for it
