Cockroaches!!!!

True, but you'll start to think of him as a complete slob, and eventually you'll let him know it. He'll think of you as a compulsive wacko clean freak and he'll be scared of you. Pick a clean freak and you won't hate each other!

I'm going to look at the link to milkyspore. Wonder if i can make some of this stuff myself? I have cloves and DE. What do you think?

I absolutely think you could make it with food-grade DE and a ketchup squeeze bottle you get from the dollar store. I don't think the clove oil is as important if you're worried about these critters as with ants.

Be sure to find the food-grade, though.

You can find it for delivery at http://www.barkerybath.com/

It is food grade DE. I have a 50 pound bag of it. It's white powder. Well, off-white.

I like the ketchup bottle idea.

Do you think borax or DE would be more effective? Should I combine them, or add anything at all?

By the way, I decided that after I do what I can with that recliner, I'm going to liberally douse the inside with DE. Wonder if it will make a dust cloud every time my DH sits down. I'll just look at him and say "WHAT did you DO???"

I wouldent count on DE to get rid of them totally. No way. I dont think the stuff works that great at all. really. If you want to really, really get rid of them i think you may have to call a professional. Make sure you keep all your food sealed tight. UGH! i feel for ya! OOh,and the big one was probably a palmetto bug...nasty suckers!

Well, the DE may be working after all. As I was spreading it along walls, making a huge mess, I got a lot of vacuuming of edges done, and found a puzzle piece, three marbles, a tuxedo button, and a lot of yuck. Vacuumed out the recliner, dusted thoroughly with DE. Dusted behind stove. Lined the perimeter of the bathroom, opened the vanity which houses my kids' bath toys, and smelled something a little funky. Started pulling out bath toys, the smell went away, and the toys seemed okay. Pulled out the whole container, lined the bottom edges with DE, started tossing it up to land on pipes, and....

..... that's when I noticed it.

Under the pipe that comes out of the wall was a gap where the caulking was for some reason missing. A mouth sized gap. Plenty big enough for roaches to come through. I don't know what caused the gap, but I know it needs to be closed. I don't have caulking, so I put some DE there and will ask hubby to pick up caulking on his way home from work.

Then I connected it: THAT'S why I've been seeing so many water bugs in here.

Ew. Roaches. I feel your pain!

I have some nasty, perverted ones that watch me in the shower. :yuck

Then there's one running around here the size of a freakin' Clydesdale...I ride him from room-to-room when I'm feeling lazy.

So, I've got a lifetime supply of 20 Mule Team borax because we make our own laundry soap, so I can put that down in my room, right? It won't affect my clumsy man-eater of a Boxer, or my two completely USELESS felines, right?

The free-rangers outside don't do their job.

From what I've heard, Borax is not safe if an animal or kid eats it. It's probably a lot safer than a pesticide, but it's not entirely safe. Granted, it probably doesn't taste at all good, so they may not try it more than once.

If I had one big enough to ride around the house, I might not be so tempted to get rid of them!

Yes, of course. The one thing I have on hand. Wonderful.

They're not an easy ride. Rather slow moving...and their gallop is horribly rough.

they are nasty here. and HUGE! we have our house tented every four years and the outside sprayed every three months. every six monts, the guy sprays behind every receptacle cover plate and switch cover plate. works wonderfully. no bug, no spiders, nothing
